Grand Opening cum Naming Ceremonies of Chung Chi Student Development Complex

The Grand Opening cum Naming Ceremonies of Chung Chi Student Development Complex was held on the Founders' Day of the College on 28 October 2022. The officiating guests, alumni and staff members joined together to celebrate this special occasion.

 

College Head Prof. Fong Wing Ping, Trustee and former member of CCC’s Development Committee Mr. Jimmy Chan, Trustee and former Chairman of CCC’s Development Committee Dr. Karl C. Kwok, Chairman of CCC Board of Trustees Dr. Norman Chan, CUHK Vice-President and University Secretary Mr. Eric Ng, Honorary Treasurer of CCC Board of Trustees Mr. Terence Chan, Trustee and Chairman of CCC’s former Steering Committee for Development Office Mr. Thomas Kwong, former member of CCC’s Development Committee Dr. Wong Fook Yee, and Trustee and member of CCC’s Development Committee Prof. Fung Tung, performed the lighting ceremony, symbolising the opening of the Complex (from left to right).

71st Anniversary of Founders’ Day

The Thanksgiving Service of the 71st Anniversary of Founders’ Day was held on 28 October 2022. The Rev. Wong Ka Fai Ray, Trustee of Chung Chi College and General Secretary of the Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China was invited as the Guest of Honour to address the Assembly. On the occasion, the Chung Chi Choir presented an anthem, scholarships were awarded to students, and a donation to support the Chung Chi Student Development Complex was made by the College Alumni Association as a gift to the alma mater.

 

A week-long Founders’ Day Student Festival started on 21 October 2022. The Executive Committee of the Student Festival organised a series of activities, including a carnival, Round-Campus Run, adventure games and a dancing party, to celebrate the anniversary of the College with students, staff and alumni.

 

Recent Snapshots

The Opening Ceremony of “Colourfulness – A Contemporary Art Exhibition by Pauline Lui” was held on 26 October 2022.

 

A couplet was sent by the Muse College of CUHK (Shenzhen) as a 70th birthday gift of Chung Chi. The calligraphy was written by Prof. Xu Yangsheng, President of CUHK (Shenzhen) and was received by Prof. Fong Wing Ping and Prof. Fung Tung.

 

The October Luncheon Talk of Pastoral and Spiritual Care Committee was held on 20 October 2022. Professor Ko Wing Hung shared on the topic “Joyful Ministries”.

 

On 31 October 2022, Andrew Ling (Principal Violist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Instructor of Viola, Music Department) and Dr. Michael Mak (Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology, Faculty of Medicine) performed music by Chausson, Piazzolla and Debussy in Midday Oasis.

 

On 19 September 2022, three senior undergraduate students of the Music Department Sam Au-yeung (Saxophone), Marco Ng (Violin,) and Quinton Chu (Piano) performed music by Milhaud, Piazzolla and Brahms in Midday Oasis.

 

Cantonese interest class was held by the Chaplain’s Office in September and October to welcome incoming students.

 

The Student Wellness Committee organised the “Relaxing Alcohol Ink Painting Workshop” on 11 Oct 2022. A total of 15 students experienced how to relax the mind and body through making art.
