GECC3230s Service-Learning Programme (Student-initiated Project)

3 Unite | Upper-Year General Education Elective

Introduction

The concept of serving others through social services is widely spread. Nowadays, many students have actively participated in a variety of service programmes to achieve different learning purposes through the experience. Through the course, students can transform the service experience into different learning elements through critical reflection.

Selected students will be assigned to a group. On top of the service content and service nature, reflection is the focus of this course. In the course, the student group will meet six times (3 hours each) with the course instructor. Through oral presentations and group discussions, it is expected that reflections and learning on the service experience, as well as deep discussions on social topics, could be achieved. Other than oral presentations and group discussions, each student is required to submit three reflective journals.
