Service-Learning Programmes

Students are encouraged to build up a sense of community service as well as to increase awareness to social issues. In semester one, a variety of thematic service-learning tasting activities are launched and students can experience what service-learning is and reflect through the experience. Regarding GECC3230 Service-Learning Programme conducted in summer, which is a 3-credit course of College GE, students are placed in a variety of service programmes in local social organizations, mainland China and overseas countries for three weeks to three months. Through the Programme, students can get in touch with socially underprivileged group and enhance personal growth through reflection of the experience.

The service-learning programmes (SLP) emphasize on students' participation and reflection throughout the service experience. Students are also encouraged to cultivate their abilities for critical thinking and value judgment and to gain valuable experience in building good partnerships with members through cooperation.
